HD Download - Norah Jones, Little Broken Hearts

Norah Jones has done it again. An album that is different from any of her previous ones. Not as "happy" as previous albums but the voice is amazing. Its interesting that this download is at 44.1 kHz 24 bit. This seems to be the middle ground of balancing file size against quality i.e. using CD quality sampling rate (44.1 kHz) and HD audio bit rate (24 bit).

I don't know if the album would have sounded better with 96 kHz sampling rate instead of 44.1 kHz. Anyway, I found this recording to be quite good with the energy spectrum leaning towards the low to mid frequencies, as you would expect from Norah Jones. Vocals are strong, clear and blended well with the music. At no point was the instruments over-powering the voices as is common in many otherwise good recordings.

From Norah Jones website - "Norah Jones has released Little Broken Hearts (Blue Note/EMI), her stunning new album produced by Danger Mouse (aka Brian Burton) which features original songs co-written by Jones and Burton.

Jones drew the inspiration for the album cover from the vintage movie posters that adorn Burton’s Los Angeles studio. “Brian has this great collection of Russ Meyer posters in his studio,” explains Jones, “and this particular one, called Mudhoney, was right over the couch where I sat every day. I always was looking at it and thinking ‘that’s so cool I want to look like her!’ I remember staring at the poster the whole time we made the record. It’s a great visual."

Little Broken Hearts is the fascinating next step in the artistic evolution of one of the music world’s most consistently intriguing singer-songwriters"
